Meet our wonderful doctors
After college at Northwestern University near Chicago, Dr. Galina Hornyik moved back west because she couldn't handle the heat, humidity, and flatness of Illinois. She attended medical school at Oregon Health Science University in Portland, Oregon, and then did her residency at Primary Children's Medical Center. She enjoys backcountry skiing, snow boarding, running, biking, hiking, and camping. She finds she is spending way too much time waging war against the weeds in her yard. Dr. Hornyik is married to Chris, who is in Pharmacologic research. Dr. Hornyik chose to be a pediatrician because she enjoys watching the kids grow up to be healthy and happy. Her happy outlook and cheerful attitude make her a favorite for patients and their families.
Dr. Karla Feindt came from Wisconsin to do her residency at the University of Utah and liked it so much she decided to stay. She attended medical school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After completing her residency, she was selected to serve as the Chief Resident at Primary Children's Medical Center for a year. She joined Wasatch Pediatrics in September, 2001. She loves doing anything in the mountains; hiking, backpacking, and skiing. She also enjoys running, reading mystery novels, and traveling. Her caring manner and concern quickly put patients and parents at ease.
A native of Salt Lake, Dr. Dan Clayton is happy to be returning to the mountains of Utah. Dan was an English major at BYU and then went to medical school at Columbia University in New York City, followed by a residency in pediatrics at the University of California, San Diego. He enjoys the opportunity in pediatrics to make a difference in his patients' lives during critical periods of development.
Aside from work, Dan always looks forward to a good excuse to be outdoors. His favorites include horseback riding and mountain biking. He is an avid reader and is always looking for good book recommendations.
Rachel is a Utah native. Dr. Rachel Woods was born and raised in Farr West, Utah. She attended medical school at the University of Utah and did her residency at Primary Children's Medical Center. Rachel met her husband Phil at the University of Utah. They are the proud parents of three beautiful children. They enjoy hiking in the summer and cross country and downhill skiing in the winter. Rachel enjoys being a part of her patients' lives and watching them grow up.
Born and raised in Sheboygon, Wisconsin, Dr. Dan Stampfl went to medical school at the University of Wisconsin. He came to Utah to do his residency and served as the chief resident at the University of Utah/Primary Childrens Medical Center before joining Wasatch Pediatrics at our Draper office. He met his wife, Sharon, at the University of Utah. She is also a pediatrician. They are the proud parents of a wonderful son, Karl. They have one dog named Rosie. Dr. Stampfl has a fun personality and a great sense of humor. His office and nursing staff enjoy working with him. Dr. Stampfl enjoys reading and cooking.
Lacey Eden, N.P.-C, spent most of her early years in San Antonio, Texas. After Graduating from BYU, she worked in the Newborn ICU as a registered nurse for ten years. The experiences she had in the NICU sparked her desire for further education and the ability to care for children of all ages. She returned to BYU where she pursued a Nurse Practitioner degee and worked in an urgent care setting since 2009. Her love of caring for children has exponentially grown. She stays busy with her three children and loves cooking, hiking, camping and skiing.
Dr. Kimberly Hansen spent four months studying Near Eastern Cultures and Religion in Israel and Egypt. She is somewhat of an artist focusing in pastels and ink. Her bachelor's degree is in Zoology from Brigham Young University and then she went to medical school at the University of Utah. She is married to Bryan Nelson who is also a physician. Dr. Hansen joined Willow Creek Pediatrics in 1997 and was the first pediatrician at our Draper Office. Dr. Hansen speaks Spanish. She has volunteered at homeless clinics and enjoys providing medical care to all types of people.
If your child will be going to kindergarten, seventh grade, or camp this summer, now is the time to schedule their well child appointments!
New at Wasatch . . . Concussion Testing!
In order to better manage a concussion sustained by a young athlete, Wasatch Pediatrics has acuired a software tool called ImPACT (Immediate Post Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing). If an ahtlere is believed to have suffered a head injury, ImPACT is used to help determine the severity of the injury and when the injury has fully healed. THis test is available fo rpatients 10 years of age and older. The baseline test, given before contact sport practice or competition, is a "pre-season" physical of the brain. If a concussion is supspected, the athlete will again take the test and your child's doctor will evaluate the two tests to compare differences and help evaluate the injury.
You can schedule Baseline or Post-Injury Concussion Testing through your regular pediatrician.
