Dr. Gary Schlichter grew up in California, with a few memorable years in Maui, and attended medical school in Virginia. He returned to the Mountain West to complete his pediatrics residency at Primary Children’s Hospital and fell in love with Utah’s community and seemingly endless outdoor opportunities. He is a board-certified pediatrician and has been practicing in Utah since 2001. We happily welcomed him to our Cottonwood office in 2026.

After 25 years of practice, Dr. Schlichter believes there are many paths to raising healthy and resilient children and enjoys working with families to find an approach that fits their needs and values. His easygoing style helps put children at ease while offering families practical guidance and medical expertise along the way.

Now empty nesters, Dr. Schlichter and his wife spend as much time as they can in the backcountry with their dogs, exploring new peaks, lakes, and rivers—or catching a local live band. He also loves riding motorcycles and is a Raiders fan.
