Dr. Katelyn Kartes grew up in Jackson, Wyoming and attended medical school at the University of Washington. She completed her pediatrics residency at Primary Children’s and was practicing as an outpatient pediatrician for five years prior to joining our Willow Creek office in 2026.
Before going into medicine, Dr. Kartes obtained her social work degree and served as a social worker in Montana. Having a blended background of social work and medicine makes her uniquely prepared to work with children who have experienced trauma, have had adverse childhood experiences, or struggle to regulate their emotions. As a pediatrician, she loves creating deep and meaningful relationships with parents and feels it is truly an honor to build trust with families. Dr. Kartes’ interests include general pediatrics, premature infants, early childhood development, child emotional trauma, adolescent medicine, and mental health treatment.
Dr. Kartes describes herself as a ski bum at heart and has always loved exploring the outdoors. Her husband is also a physician and when they’re not practicing medicine, you’ll find them with their twin daughters exploring Utah, Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming in their camper. She is known for being fully committed to saying “yes” to spontaneity – jumping in the water, climbing the mountain, or ordering the dessert. She also enjoys cooking, reading, cycling, and snowboarding.
